Arrogance exists in almost every archetype. Most of the shadow frequencies are obsessed with the word “I”. This exaggerated sense of self creates the illusion that your perspective is more correct than anyone else’s.
Consider this. Is there anyone else whose perspective is more accurate than yours? Is there anyone who is more “right” than you are? As perspectives are affected by a multitude of factors, including culture, conditioning, and life experiences, they will obviously be different for each person. Nevertheless, most of you believe that the extent to which another person aligns with your views and values is the extent to which they are right. The extent to which another person does not align with your views and values is the extent to which they are wrong.
At the deeper shadow frequencies, arrogance makes you entirely unaware of the needs or perspectives of others. Undercurrents of narcissism desensitize you to global issues like world hunger, climate change, poverty, and war. Though large corporations and the mega-rich are condemned for self-serving agendas, the fear-based need to hoard resources for “me and mine” is found at all socio-economic levels.
That having been said, there are leaders who understand that a proposition where “we” win and “they” lose is not an acceptable solution. True leaders take a broader view, one that encompasses not only humanity, but nature and the planet as well. These leaders live by the phrases “Do onto others as you would have others do onto you,” and “But for the grace of God, there go I.”
Humility is the mental flexibility that recognizes your perspective is no more right, accurate or correct than anyone else’s. Humility understands that there is no such thing as moral superiority. It does not use trickery to manipulate or make excuses for self-centric behavior. Humility is the recognition that a person’s lot in life does not determine his / her worth. Likewise, achievement, intellect and power are not a measure of value. Humility is the recognition that divine sovereignty lives within each person in equal measure.
From the Mother’s perspective, the needs of one are the needs of all.
