I didn’t get to do my 20 minute automatic writing in the morning because we left at 5:00am for the six hour return trip from Bajos del Toro to Tamarindo. This is the transcript from the afternoon’s guided meditation.
Welcome to this playground known as earth, where you get to spend each day playing with other divine adventurers in this game you call “life”. Every need, want or desire, every challenge, toil or tribulation, is orchestrated on your behalf to create divine tension – the space between the wanting and the having.
This time / space reality is entirely unique in that it contains the illusion of separation – an illusion that is necessary to create the space between. You are so brave, so very adventurous for being willing to enter the illusion for the sole purpose of expanding consciousness, the very fabric of the universe.
There are untold legions in the unseen who are cheering on the spiritual warriors who dare brave the illusions of time and space. The irony is that you are so very, very big pretending to be so very, very small. There is not a being alive that is insignificant. All have great purpose as all contribute an incomprehensible magnitude to the is-ness of all that is.
You do not need to remember your power in order to be powerful. You do not need to be aware of your capacity to heal in order to inspire healing. You do not need to be aware of your capacity to love in order to offer profound love.
Simply open and allow and the power, healing and love will flow through you as easily and naturally as the blood flows through your veins.
Love, power and healing are your birthright, the natural means by which you intended to interact with other spiritual beings in this time / space reality. Any evidence of fear, hatred, jealously or anger need not pertain to you and your life experience. They are simply part of this matrix as an alternate way of creating the space between.
Some may choose drama. But at any time, you can decide whether or not drama is a welcome guest in your life experience. There is no right or wrong. Only that which you find exciting and interesting.
Over the past several months, I have felt a clear, strong playful energy. On the morning of the full moon in September, I woke at 5:00am for meditation. Stepping outside, I was immediately captivated by the moon’s beauty and I wanted to see it reflected in Lake Superior.
The weather was unseasonably warm for 5:00am – even warmer than it would normally be at that hour in the middle of summer. I had two hours before my son would need to get up for school, so I hopped in the car and headed to the beach.
A running path skirts the cliffs overlooking the lake and I’d used this path 2-3 times a week throughout the summer. However, it looked strange and unfamiliar in the dark and I needed to use my cell phone’s flashlight to navigate the winding path, as tall pines shadowed the moon’s light.
Reaching a small cove, I stood at the water’s edge, gazing at a moonbeam on the water. It felt as if the cold black water was calling me to swim, to dance with the moonbeam. I stripped down, delighting in the sensation of the warm morning air on my skin. The water was cold, but not as frigid as it seemed just a few weeks earlier. The prospect of night-swimming alone in Lake Superior was exhilarating.
I swam far from shore and turned to gaze back at the moon, which was low on the western horizon. Then I turned back to the east and followed the moonbeam farther and farther into Lake Superior. In an odd blending of playfulness and calm, I kept swimming away from shore for what felt like an hour, though it was probably only 20 minutes.
By the time I turned around, I could see both harbors for which our town, Two Harbors, is named. I could see the lighthouse and ore docks of Agate Bay and lights up and down the entire shoreline. Being so far out, alone in the cold, dark water, should have felt scary. I felt nothing but that odd mix of playfulness and calm.
Back on shore, I drip-dried and watched the sun turn the sky from indigo to pink before returning home to get my son ready for school.
For me, this ayahuasca ceremony is a form of play. Because I hold great respect for the plant medicine and its immense power, I feel deep gratitude that I will be permitted to approach the vine as a playmate. It will be my greatest honor to engage in a dance with the holder of such wisdom and light.
Escape Bound will be offering expeditionary retreats where participants can experience the indigenous ceremonial use of plant-based medicines, including huachuma and ayahuasca. Use our contact form to be notified as upcoming retreat dates become available.
