The good in me sees, witnesses and acknowledges the good in you. This is the essence of the namaskar, the greeting of “namaste”.
The heart that is capable of truly seeing another human being is rare. Your minds are often too distracted by your own needs, wants and agendas to hold space for the needs, wants and agendas of another. But when you dedicate the time and energy required to hold space, your kindness will be cherished by friends, relatives, or even strangers, as they have the rare opportunity to be fully seen and heard by another.
This is the very essence of kindness. In taking the time and energy to listen to another human being’s stories, you witness the unfolding of their heart. Many hearts on your planet are closed. This is the root for much physical disease, as well as anxiety, depression, and loneliness.
In the presence and safety of another, pain, sadness and disillusionment are shared, then released. When that happens, the catharsis is not only experienced by the individual doing the sharing. The healing release resolves energetic dissonance. It reverberates through families, friends and emotional ecosystems. In helping one to heal, you help the entire planet to heal.
Witnessing is a form of worship, one in which God experiences what it is to be God.
In tenderness, hold space for each other. Share a cup of coffee, a beer, or a glass of wine. Gather at the fireside and tell your stories, witnessing the beauty in your fellow humans as their faces reflect the glowing light of the fire’s embers. Your souls were meant to be in communion with each other. Allow the stories of others to penetrate your heart and permeate your bones.
