Does it sometimes feel like you are never enough? Like everyone else received life’s secret code, but someone forgot to give it to you? Like there is something important you are missing? Maybe you suspect you don’t really belong here. You recognize that life is tough for everyone. But sometimes it feels like it’s more difficult for you than for others. There’s this nagging suspicion that you ended up in a body that was never intended for you.
Take a deep breath, sweet child, and know that many, many others feel the same way. This is the feeling humans experience when they forget the truth of who they are. Take heart in knowing you are always just moments from rescue — from the life-saving breath that will save you from drowning.
Help will not come from trying to convince others that you are something you are not. It comes from arriving home to the truth of who you are. It does not come from doing — from achievement. It comes from being — quieting your mind, attending to your breath, and becoming keenly aware of the sensations in your body.
Allow the tiny muscles in your face and scalp to relax. Notice the sights and sounds around you. Perceive your world as an infant who is seeing / hearing / tasting / touching / smelling everything for the very first time.
This is a system re-boot. Quiet and alert, you come home to yourself. You finally take control of this magnificent, profoundly complex machine that is your body.
Do you notice a little shift? Maybe colors become just a little more vibrant. Maybe you notice the edges around objects becoming more focused and clear. Maybe your sense of smell or hearing become more acute.
Take another deep breath and relax into the deep assurance, the intrinsic knowledge that this body is truly yours. This breath is yours. This moment is yours. It belongs to you. You do not need to justify your existence to anyone. You do not need to prove yourself. In this moment, you are perfect and complete and worthy, exactly as you are.
